This coming summer the Enyou Foundation will host its 3rd annual teacher training program in Shanghai, China. 70 high school & elementary school teachers from inland and rural areas of China will be invited to Shanghai to take part in a 5-week training program. As the above proverb suggests, the focus of this program is to “teach how to fish”—specifically, to provide these teachers with perspectives, training, and resources they can utilize in their own classrooms to nurture their students.

Please through prayer consider this opportunity to serve as a volunteer for this year’s Enyou summer program. We are looking for people who are dedicated, passionate, and have a heart to serve as a “fisher of men” for the Chinese people. We will be recruiting 2 types of volunteers for this year’s program. Volunteers should be conversant in both English and Chinese (Mandarin).

Volunteer I: Instructors

Our Volunteer instructors will be responsible for teaching courses in their area of expertise. Instructors should prepare for at least 2 weeks of teaching, or may remain throughout the program’s 5 week duration.

Volunteers in this group should have near-native fluency in Chinese (Mandarin), and should have post-university work experience in their field of instruction.

Volunteer II: Small Group Leaders

Small Group Leaders will work with their groups for the entire duration of the 5-week program. Participating teachers from inland China will be divided into small groups for English conversation and review classes. Small Group Leaders will be responsible for exemplifying team unity, teaching English Conversation classes and reviewing the day’s lessons with their assigned groups. English group leaders may be current college students or recent graduates.

This summer program is sponsored by the (恩友) foundation. Many supporters of the Enyou Foundation are employees of Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) in Shanghai. Therefore, the program will be held within the premises of SMIC’s living community.

Participants are expected to prepare expenses for the costs of the program, including air travel, accommodations, boarding, and material costs. The total amount will vary depending on which type of volunteer position you choose. Also, financial fellowships are available upon request.
